| WAYN | Nov 27, 2005 10:18pm | I myself am agnostic, so I don't think the possibility that a god exists is inherently irrational. I think that if god exists, I doubt he/she/it would be so egotistical that it would require us to worship it. Also I doubt that god would care in I have sex before I get married. It would have a lot more important things to worry about.
Overall I think that we INTP's are way to antiauthoritarian to become strongly religious. And if I were to join a religion, it would have to make sense. I do not want to take anything on faith. If you want me to believe something, you had better be able to prove it.
And just for the hell of it, here is a link to a video of the greatest comedian who ever lived, Bill Hicks, talking about religion.

Whether your belief is rational or not depends partly on why you hold it. Does it come from your own personal reflexions, or is it an unchallenged legacy of a religion you've been brought up with? |

Like 2 above however my father is INTP and a scientist and deeply religious..however he has used his rational mind to design a belief sytem which he feels comfortable with.
Also being religious (christian) does not mean you have to believe in everything in the bible or how priests and religious thinkers have interpreted ancient writings. A pure belief in God is no more irrational in many ways than believing in some commonly accepted scientific theories. |
