Hi All...
I want to know how many of us use Linux and have got themselves to learn it. Though its not necessary that all people in a particular group must be the same (the greatest flaw of astrology), I'm still curious. Again, though many may not, but I find that its a very INTP thing to do... to have a different point of view towards computers and for the sense of freedom and choice that comes with it, if not to show off my geekiness ;)
PS: wheres everyone in the group gone? Are we too introverted even to post on the forum?

As to your PS, my guess is 'maybe'. Heh. But yeah, I certainly have mastered Linux (I've got it running on my partitioned main rig (Debian/Windows XP) and have Mandrake running on a secondary, much less powerful machine). I find it interesting that many INTPs are interested in Linux, and while I never thought about it before, it makes perfect sense now that you've brought it up. Heh.

I'm running Fedora Core 3, but I found out about Linux before I've found out about beeing a INTP. so that must make me an Aries.

FC1 to upgrade to FC3, and mid-install of a Gentoo second system, via ssh.

Surely, the only reason an INTP would use Linux is that they have not yet tried FreeBSD?

pjd: You may prefer the Cathedral, but I think that that's Bazaar!

Actually, it's an interesting article. I might try out one of the BSDs when I get myself a third system, or a second hard-drive on my second (other than the 2GB swap drive) :-)

what are the advantages FreeBSD has over the Ganuu/Lye-nooooooks family?

The answer (from a pro-FreeBSD guy) is in pjd's first link!

I had a terrible premonition that this thread would destabilize into a Gentoo vs Every Other Flavour Under The Sun, but I never dreamed you FreeBSD goons might weigh in... ;) But seriously, I and the other IT guys at my school are designing a distro (well, 'distro', anyway) to go on our aging PC labs... And we're basing it off Gentoo, because of a very vocal supporter. The possibility of FreeBSD loomed because of a big fan (meaning both that he was a dedicated FreeBSD user, and that he was a big fan, heh) yelling at us, but since none of us know how to change any damn thing, we decided against it. Heh.
